Brothers Adrian and Jason Redpath last night put on one of the most brilliant displays seen in recent history when they dominated proceedings to finish one and two in the fifth round of the Farmers Union Iced Coffee Tasmanian Sprintcar series at Latrobe.

In an emotional tribute to Peter Redpath earlier in the night, all 5 Redpath cars, including the Mini-Sprint of Luke, and Formula 500's of Matthew and Josh were pushed off for some rolling laps as a mark of respect. Some spectacular wheel-stands from Adrian and Jason set the scene for what would be a stellar night for the pair.

The opening heat of the night was a run away victory for Jason Dawkins, taking the lead early in the race to win easily from Jamie Bricknell and Tim Austin.

Heat two was action packed, leader Kurt Luttrell crashing out in spectacular fashion on lap 6 whilst attempting to put a lap down on Anthony Johns in turn one, both cars rolling over and suffering heavy damage. Jason Redpath went on to take the win from Adam Alexander and Phil Chillcott, who is getting the feel for racing again after some time out of the seat.

The third heat of the night was another thriller, Adrian Redpath romping home to win from Anthony Johns and Tim Austin, setting a new lap record of 10.75 seconds along the way; .07 of second faster than the old record held by American Brian Brown. Tony Smith pulled infield for the second time of the night with car dramas, similar to those that dogged him at Carrick on Boxing Day.

The final heat of the night saw up and coming rookie Ashley House take the win, from fellow Rookie Kane Cruse and Jason Redpath, who had done enough to qualify on pole for the 30-lap feature.

With Jason Redpath on pole, rookie Ashley House again upstaged many of his more experienced counterparts to start outside Redpath on the front row. Adrian Redpath and Jason Dawkins occupied the second row.

Tony Smith was a notable absentee from the 18 car grid.

At the green it was Redpath who was the early leader, with Ashley House doing well to hold Adrian Redpath and Jason Dawkins at bay, until on lap 7 he collided with Brother Jason House while lapping him, sending him over and ending his night.

During the read light period from this stoppage, exhaust flame from the #21 machine of Robin Dawkins melted down his right rear, also ending his night.

The following lap saw a hard charging Kurt Luttrell getting crossed up in turn one, the resulting pile up saw the demise of Jamie Bricknell who had been running well all night.

Redpath continued his march towards the flag on the green, pulling away from the following cars, until lap 15 when a half spin by Malcolm Lee caused a trigger happy official to bring in the yellow once again.

The field got underway again but it wasn't long before the race was under caution once again, Kurt Luttrell making contact with Kane Cruse on lap 23 whilst attempting to pass in turn 3, ending Luttrell's race. Kurt was obviously not impressed either, making his feelings known to Kane upon exiting his car. Cruse was able to re-fire.

Lap 25 saw Jason Dawkins who was at the time running third pull off the track after running out of fuel. Jason Redpath managed to hang on from his fast closing brother, and Tim Austin who finished third after a consistent night of racing.

Redpath showed his jubilation at the win with a series of spectacular wheel stands and donuts after the race.

The next meeting for Sprintcars is set to be held at Latrobe on January 19th with the running of the 2008 Tasmanian Sprintcar Championship.
